For pre-dosed liquid detergent capsules and certain dishwasher detergent tabs, Henkel uses soluble shell which dissolve in contact with water. The shell consists of soluble polyvinyl alcohol foil. In cooperation with the raw material supplier MonoSol, Henkel conducted a case study examining the environmental properties of the water-soluble shell. The study concludes that no negative effects on aquatic organisms are to be expected.
