Join Henkel and play a pivotal leadership role within the Laundry & Home Care business, shaping the future of some of ANZ’s most trusted consumer brands. Based at Ingleburn, NSW, within the Research & Development team in Henkel’s Consumer Brands division, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced packaging leader to make a significant impact while advancing their career.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will lead, coach, and develop a team of Packaging Technologists and Engineers, driving the delivery of innovative, sustainable, and commercially successful packaging solutions across new and existing product portfolios. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, you will champion packaging excellence from concept through to launch, optimising quality, functionality, cost, sustainability, and consumer appeal while helping shape the future of Henkel’s iconic brands. 

What you´ll do

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative packaging solutions that meet global standards for quality, functionality, cost, sustainability, safety, regulatory compliance, and consumer appeal. 
  • Drive packaging solutions for new product launches, existing products, and promotional activities. 
  • Identify and deliver value-creation and cost-saving initiatives that support business objectives. 
  • Ensure compliance with Henkel International Test Procedures and oversee the execution of all required packaging performance testing. 
  • Monitor emerging packaging trends, technologies, materials, and sustainability developments, leveraging insights to create competitive advantage. 
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Purchasing to drive the technical packaging agenda and strengthen cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Packaging team, building technical expertise, strategic capability, and role-specific competencies. 
  • Foster a high-performing R&D culture through collaboration, continuous improvement, and adherence to Henkel standards, including maintaining best-practice laboratory operations and governance.

What makes you a good fit

  • Degree qualification in Packaging Engineering or a related discipline, with 5–7 years’ experience in packaging development within FMCG, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar industries. 
  • Demonstrated success in a packaging leadership role, delivering innovative solutions and achieving strong commercial and operational outcomes. 
  • Proven project management capability, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across internal and external partners. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset. 
  • Self-motivated, creative, and adaptable team player who can critically assess challenges, identify opportunities, and drive positive outcomes.
