About this position

What you´ll do

  • Create and implement category- and technology-specific sourcing strategies that align with Henkel’s Sustainability Ambition 2030 and Responsible Sourcing roadmap, with a strong focus on recyclability, Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) compliance, carbon footprint reduction, and supplier alignment on net zero targets
  • Scout, qualify, and partner with suppliers and reuse service providers offering innovative sustainable packaging solutions. Actively engage suppliers in joint roadmapping and capability building to support Henkel’s net zero ambitions, driving circularity, material efficiency, and regulatory compliance
  • Act as the central PMO for packaging sustainability, ensuring clear project definitions, alignment, progress tracking, and regular updates across procurement initiatives. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to embed net zero goals into project planning and execution
  • Serve as the key interface between packaging sustainability and procurement, embedding sustainability and net zero criteria into sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, and governance frameworks. Ensure supplier commitments are measurable and aligned with Henkel’s climate targets
  • Advise business units and purchasing teams on packaging sustainability from early-stage opportunity assessments through to execution. Provide expertise on regulations, technologies, and industry trends, while guiding supplier engagement strategies that support Henkel’s transition to net zero
  • Anticipate and address evolving regulatory requirements, including European PPWR and global Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes. Ensure sourcing strategies remain compliant and forward-looking, while encouraging suppliers to proactively adapt to climate-related legislation
  • Represent Henkel in internal and external sustainability forums, contributing thought leadership and reinforcing the company’s position as a sustainability frontrunner. Advocate for collaborative approaches to achieving net zero across the packaging value chain
  • Establish robust reporting mechanisms to track progress against sustainability and net zero targets, ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across packaging sourcing initiatives 

What makes you a good fit

  • University degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Business Administration, Sustainability Management or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in procurement, packaging development, or sustainability management within global, matrixed organizations
  • Deep knowledge of packaging sustainability frameworks (PPWR, EPR, recyclability, circularity) paired with strong commercial and sourcing capabilities
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, lead commercial negotiations, and influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Strong strategic thinking with a structured, proactive approach to balancing cost, compliance, and sustainability goals
  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus
