New EU-MDR compliant light cure adhesives designed for future-ready medical device manufacturing

Henkel introduces next-generation light cure adhesives for medical device assembly

Henkel Adhesive Technologies today announced the launch of five next-generation light cure medical device adhesives: Loctite AA 3914, AA 3915, AA 3917, AA 3937 and AA 3964. Formulated in line with EU-MDR ED, CMR & TPO requirements1 and developed for medical device assembly, the new portfolio is designed to help manufacturers address evolving regulatory needs while maintaining high-performance bonding.

In addition to regulatory readiness, the new medical device adhesives introduce several feature improvements, including enhanced fluorescence stability before and after cure to support in-line visual inspection, as well as improved strength retention during accelerated aging testing to support long-term device performance and validation requirements.

Medical device manufacturers are increasingly evaluating materials used throughout device design and manufacturing as regulatory requirements continue to evolve. Medical Device Regulation ‏(EU MDR 2017/745) places additional focus on substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction ‏(CMR) and endocrine disruptors ‏(ED), prompting many manufacturers to review existing material selections and long-term compliance strategies.

Henkel's new portfolio of medical device adhesives was developed with these industry trends in mind. Formulated in line with EU-MDR ED, CMR & TPO requirements1, the new grades contain less than 0.1% by weight of CMR, ED and TPO-related content and have been tested according to ISO 10993-based Henkel protocols. The portfolio provides manufacturers with a range of medical device adhesive solutions designed to support future-ready assembly processes while continuing to meet demanding medical device performance requirements.

“At Henkel, we view innovation through the lens of our customers' challenges and opportunities. This new portfolio was developed with that objective in mind, helping medical device manufacturers navigate evolving regulatory needs while maintaining performance, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency, essential to their success. It represents another step in our ongoing commitment to supporting our customers' long-term growth and enabling the innovation that drives the next generation of medical devices,” said Julia Kurtz, Director Marketing & Strategy for Industrial Adhesives at Henkel.

The launch reflects Henkel's continued commitment to supporting the medical device industry with materials expertise, regulatory knowledge and application-focused innovation. As manufacturers navigate increasingly complex product development and regulatory environments, access to validated, high-performance assembly materials remain an important factor in reducing risk, supporting compliance efforts and accelerating innovation.

Henkel will present its new next-generation light cure medical device adhesives portfolio at
MD&M Midwest: October 28-29, 2026, in Minneapolis, MN, USA
