What position did you take over after the program? What are you responsible for now
After completing the trainee program, I transitioned into a Process Engineer role. In this position, I am responsible for optimizing production processes, reducing waste, and improving overall operational efficiency. My main responsibilities include analyzing process performance, leading continuous improvement initiatives, monitoring key cost drivers like Full Processing Cost, and collaborating cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure stable and efficient production.
I am also actively involved in data-driven decision-making, using tools like Minitab to identify opportunities and implement sustainable improvements.
How can you benefit from the program in your current position?
The trainee program provided me with a strong cross-functional understanding of operations, logistics, engineering, and controlling, which is highly valuable in my current role. Because of this exposure, I can approach problems with a holistic mindset, understanding not only the process itself but also its financial and logistical impact in my area and all the areas involved. Additionally, the program strengthened my ability to adapt quickly, work in diverse teams, and communicate effectively across departments. And it also gave me early experience in delivering measurable results, which helps me now to lead improvement projects with a clear focus on impact, such as cost reduction and waste minimization.
What would be an advice you would give young graduates starting at Henkel?
My advice would be to take full ownership from day one and stay curious. The trainee program offers a unique opportunity to explore different areas, so it’s important to ask questions, understand how things connect, and step out of your comfort zone. I would encourage you to approach problems with a cross-functional mindset, understanding not only your own area but also the perspectives of others. Prioritizing early, tangible results even through small initiatives will help you build credibility quickly and, most importantly, strengthen your confidence.
